Standing Buddha in Abhaya Mudra

Price

$1,699.00

This is a standing statue of the Buddha, with a height of 73 cm and a width of 19 cm. The statue is cast from bronze, which has developed a rich patina over time. The Buddha is standing in a serene, upright pose on a multi-tiered, square base. His right hand is raised to shoulder height with the palm facing forward, a gesture known as the Abhaya Mudra, which symbolizes reassurance, protection, and the dispelling of fear. His left hand is held at his side, possibly grasping the edge of his robe. He is clad in a simple, clinging monastic robe that drapes over his left shoulder and falls to his ankles, with fine folds visible. The Buddha's face has a calm expression with downcast eyes and a subtle smile. His head is adorned with a flame-like finial (Rasmi) on top of the Ushnisha, and his hair is composed of small, tight curls. The style of the statue, particularly the slender form and mudra, is consistent with Khmer or Lao-Thai traditions of Buddhist art.
