Meditating Silver-Alloy Buddha

This is a statue of a seated Buddha, cast in a silver-toned metal alloy. The Buddha is in the full lotus position (Padmasana), with his legs crossed and the soles of both feet facing upwards. His hands are resting in his lap, one on top of the other with palms facing up, forming the Dhyana Mudra, the gesture of deep meditation and spiritual concentration. He wears a simple monastic robe that drapes over his body, with minimal folds, revealing the form beneath.
 

The face of the Buddha has a calm, peaceful expression with a subtle, serene smile, and his eyes are gently closed in deep contemplation. His hair is composed of small, tightly-coiled curls, rising to a prominent, pointed finial (Rasmi) on top of the Ushnisha, symbolizing his high level of spiritual development and enlightenment.
 

The Dhyana Mudra is the hand gesture that symbolizes the Buddha's period of profound meditation and is the key mudra of Amitabha Buddha. The overall style, with its slender, graceful form and the shape of the finial, is characteristic of Thai Buddhist art.
