Height: 37cm | Width: 27cm

This is a bronze statue of a seated Buddha. The Buddha is in the full lotus position (Padmasana). His hands are resting in his lap, one on top of the other with palms facing up, forming the Dhyana Mudra, the gesture of deep meditation. He wears a simple monastic robe that is smoothly rendered on his body.

The face has a calm, peaceful expression with a prominent smile, which is a hallmark of the Bayon style. His hair is composed of tight curls rising to a high, conical finial. Behind his head is an elaborate circular halo, or aureola, representing his divine enlightened nature.

The Dhyana Mudra symbolizes the Buddha's meditative state, while the halo signifies his divine nature and enlightenment. The distinctive style, with the full face, wide lips, and serene smile, is characteristic of Khmer art from the Bayon period, a style often associated with the portraits of King Jayavarman VII.

The surface of the bronze has a dark, rich patina with some lighter areas that highlight the details of the halo and the face. This unique and spiritually significant piece is a beautiful example of Buddhist art, bringing a sense of history and profound peace to any space.
