Bronze Seated Brahma - 36cm

This is a bronze statue of the seated Hindu god Brahma. The deity is seated in the full lotus position (Padmasana) on a tiered base. He is depicted with multiple heads and numerous arms, which are holding various attributes, including a lotus flower, a mace, a conch shell, and a discus.
 

The figure has multiple faces, each with a serene expression, indicating his ability to see in all directions. He wears a prominent, stacked headdress.
 

This multi-headed and multi-armed form symbolizes Brahma's omniscience and omnipotence. As the creator god in the Hindu trinity, his multiple faces represent his all-encompassing knowledge. The various attributes he holds are symbolic of his creative and preserving powers. The intricate details of the carving and the complex iconography are characteristic of Khmer art.
