This is a bronze statue of the mythical creature and deity, Garuda. He is depicted with a humanoid torso and arms, a bird-like face, and feathered wings that flare out behind him, forming a large, ornate backdrop. He is adorned with intricate necklaces, bracelets, and a pleated lower garment.

The figure has a powerful, assertive expression with a prominent beak-like nose and large, fierce eyes. He wears a complex, layered crown on his head.

Surrounding his main head are multiple smaller heads or stylized snake heads, as Garuda is known as the sworn enemy of the Naga serpents.

Garuda is the king of birds and the divine mount of the Hindu god Vishnu. He is a powerful symbol of strength, speed, and protection. His iconic conflict with the Nagas (serpents) symbolizes the victory of good over evil. The intricate details of the carving and the powerful expression are characteristic of Khmer art, showcasing the mastery of metalwork from the Angkorian period.

The surface of the bronze has a dark, rich patina, with a beautiful green verdigris that emphasizes the fine details of the feathers, jewelry, and facial features. This unique and striking piece is a superb example of Hindu iconography in Southeast Asian art, bringing a sense of divine power and protection to any space.
